Kobe Japanese Cuisine – If you’re working in Millington and looking for good Japanese food, then this is the place. They have great yakisoba and bento box lunch specials, and the sushi combos are excellent. Its on the short list of places in Millington that I go to for lunch.

Olympic Steak and Pizza – is a bit of a Millington dynasty. Its the quintessential American story. Greek immigrants land in America with nothing but a work ethic and build a small series of restaurants that are staples in rural Western, TN. They’ve adapted well and do the small town standard meat and three plates, as well as pizzas that are top notch. The best kept secret is the Greek food which is the heart and soul of the family.

Milano’s Pizza Millington

Milano’s Pizza Millington is some of my favorite pizza in the greater Memphis area. There are other places that have great pizza, but this is one of my favorites in town.

There are several branches around Memphis, but my favorite spot is the Millington location. It’s not unusual for us to hike to Millington to run errands so we can stop at the Milano’s for lunch or dinner.

The pizza is made with whole milk mozzarella, so even the slice of cheese has the weight of a small piece of lasagna.

Milano’s makes excellent calzone’s and their meat stuffed pizza is the crown jewel of their creations. It’s knife and fork pizza.

NOV2015 Update:
I went in the other day with a friend and tried the seafood lasagna, and I discovered a whole new world. It was amazing. Their traditional Italian dishes are every bit as good as their pizza. Now I have an issue of choosing pizza or lasagna whenever I’m in the Millington Milano’s

Local’s choice: Meat stuffed with red sauce on top, maybe a slice of cheese if I’m really hungry. Tiramisu is also the best kept secret in the restaurant.

Also, if you’re feeding a soccer team, office or the 3rd Marine Division they sell wagon wheel pizza’s for large crowds.

Smokin’ D’s Pit Stop Bar-B-Que

Smokin D’s Pit Stop Bar-B-Que – is a new BBQ joint in Millington on Highway 51. Their pulled pork and BBQ bologna were excellent. The price is right and the BBQ is very good. If you’re in the Millington area for a weekend, its a great stop. I’d highly recommend it. They also have a dollar menu of BBQ sliders and other great choices.

Crye-Leike: Brad and Jenny Merritt: People have asked me for a good recommendation for those looking to move the Millington, Atoke, Munford area. I’ve asked around and Brad and Jenny Merritt are the team that has come up through La Famiglia’s contact network. If you’re going to be stationed at the Millington base and are looking for a house in that area, Team Merritt is comes the most highly recommended from the people that I trust.

Pig-N-Whistle: If you’re stuck at the Millington Naval Base, this is the best stuff around. Its the old Kerrville, TN train station and its got a great old country feel to it. Its off of Highway 51 and has a good solid menu from BBQ Nachos to BBQ Sandwiches. I’ve been to lots of Hail and Farewell’s there, and I still stop in if I’m out that way.
